History
Merewether Bowling Club was opened on the 6 February 1956 on the site of the Caldwell St Colliery. It was initially opened with only one green, but in 1960 a second green was established following the closure of the adjacent railway line. In 1967, the Club House was opened, at a cost of $100,000.
Since the Club’s establishment in 1956, numerous developments, changes and advances have been made to ensure the Club is in a financially strong position in todays’ economic climate. As a result of our changing image and the many improvements that have been made to the Club’s premises over the years, the next step in the development process involved rebranding our Club. Whilst the Club’s name still remains as Merewether Bowling Club Ltd., our new registered trading name is now “Club Merewether”. This name aims to be more reflective of involvement with the local Community.
